Medical Residency—Year Two

OGME-2 year rotations include:   

  • Child/Adolescent Psychiatry- 4 months
  • Inpatient Psychiatry- 4 months
  • Addiction Psychiatry 4 months

The Child Psychiatric Inpatient Unit at Centerstone is comprised of a unit focused on care of children under 18 years of age and older suffering from acute psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. Admission criteria requires that the clients must be experiencing symptoms consistent with an acute psychiatric distress or substance abuse and that such symptoms cannot be managed at a lower level of care. Clients that present as an eminent danger to themselves or others are automatically admitted for observation and assessment.

The Child Psychiatric Inpatient Resident will be responsible for the psychiatric care of clients under the supervision of an attending psychiatrist.  Broadly, the resident will be engaged in the full continuum of inpatient care.  This will include consulting on admissions and unit placement, conducting both initial and ongoing psychiatric evaluations, coordinating care with other disciplines (nursing, occupational therapy, counseling, psychological services), contributing to the formulation of a treatment plan, monitoring the progress of symptom relief from interventions, contributing to the discharge plan, interacting with parents/ families around treatment issues, and other duties of a attending psychiatrist in an inpatient setting.

The Addiction Center at Centerstone is comprised of a unit focused on care of adults suffering from substance abuse disorders, often with a co-occurring psychiatric issue. Admission criteria requires that the clients must be experiencing symptoms consistent with a substance dependence disorder and that such symptoms cannot be managed at a lower level of care. Clients that present as an eminent danger to themselves or others are automatically admitted for observation and assessment.

The Addiction Center will be responsible for the psychiatric care of clients under the supervision of an attending psychiatrist.  Broadly, the resident will be engaged in the full continuum of inpatient addictions care.  This will include consulting on admissions and unit placement, conducting both initial and ongoing psychiatric evaluations, coordinating care with other disciplines (nursing, occupational therapy, counseling, psychological services), contributing to the formulation of a treatment plan, monitoring the progress of symptom relief from interventions, contributing to the discharge plan, interacting with families around treatment issues and other duties of an attending psychiatrist in an inpatient addictions setting.
